George's Testimony:
I grew up in China. Before I came to America, I was on the path that most Chinese students go, i.e., go to high school, take the college entrance exam, then go to the university and get the degrees, and make a good living. On the surface I did well. But spiritually I was poor and didn't know the meaning of life. There is no faith in my life. In many of life's junctions, I merely followed the crowds. My parents have already set a goal for me and encouraged me constantly to realize the goal and not get distracted. So sometimes I'm confused about my destiny. Before I became a Christian, I was a man with no faith and I didn't know the meaning of life and confused about life.
When I arrived at Dallas, at first I planned to move into my apartment. But I was surprised that the apartment was just painted. There was a smell of paint which is bad for health. My roommate contacted the man who picked up my roommate at athe airport. The man is a Christian. He took us to his house and gave us food and a place to sleep. The second day, he invited us to his church. the people in the church were so nice to us. I had a feeling that I found a home in a totally strange city. I wanted to be a member of God's big family. I started to realize how little I was prepared in my spiritual life. I recognized my sin and I repented of my sin and allowed God to clean my soul. With the faith of God, I can have confidence in facing the challenges.
I followed God's words from the Bible. I went to church every weekend and learned how to pray to God. In the church, I sang songs to praise God, read the Bible with other Christians and communicated with others about my understanding of some verses in the Bible. I gave myself to God and God has given me a purpose and a direction. I pray to God after I get up and before I go asleep every day.
The church here is so kind to people who are new here. They help you set up a new life and expect nothing in return. Being a Christian gives me an opportunity to reflect on my life and gives me more confidence in facing the challenges. When I am in truouble, I will pray and communicate with Jesus who will show me the right direction and help me go through all of this. It gradually strengthens my spirit in dealing with various conflicts in my life. I'm not alone, the Holy Spirit will accompany me and give me courage.
